Stari Grad Municipality Funds Winter Stay and Ski School for Primary School Students

Stari Grad Municipality will this year organize a free winter stay and ski school for fourth-grade students from primary schools in Stari Grad. Only children from socially disadvantaged families will participate in the project “Igman 2017”, and it is planned that around 100 children whose parents cannot afford expensive equipment and instructors will learn to ski this winter. Stari Grad Municipality organized a ski school for primary school students in previous years as well, but mostly children who already had ski equipment participated, thus putting children from socially disadvantaged families at a disadvantage. From this year, Stari Grad Municipality will also finance the children's stay on the mountain and equipment rental, it was announced, as reported by Patria.

- All primary schools from the Stari Grad area that submitted lists of children to the competent municipal service are included, and the first group should head to Igman as early as January 9, 2017. Since there were problems in previous years with holding the school due to a lack of snow, this year that was also taken into account, so in case of a lack of snow, programs with animators and other activities will be organized for the children, so that they can fully experience the charms of a winter stay on the mountain.

For the participants in the project “Igman 2017”, Stari Grad Municipality will provide a five-day stay on the mountain with full board, equipment, instructors, trail preparation and use of the ski lift, as well as medical supervision and insurance. The free winter stay and ski school will be held in three shifts: the first shift from January 9 to 13, the second shift from January 16 to 20, and the third shift from January 23 to 27, 2017.
