Old Town Municipality to financially support Sarajevo Canton Memorial Fund project

The Old Town Municipality and the Sarajevo Canton Memorial Fund have signed an Agreement on co-financing the project of making and installing tombstones and memorial monuments, reports Patria agency.

Tombstones and memorial monuments are intended for martyrs, fallen soldiers, and deceased defenders of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are buried in cemeteries in the Sarajevo Canton area. The agreement was signed by the Mayor of the Old Town Municipality Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and the Director of the Sarajevo Canton Memorial Fund Suad Zijadić, and with it, the Municipality undertakes to provide a grant in the amount of 45,000 KM.

Otherwise, the full name of the Sarajevo Canton Memorial Fund is the Sarajevo Canton Fund for the Protection and Maintenance of Cemeteries of Martyrs and Fallen Soldiers, Memorial Centers, and Memorial Monuments to Victims of Genocide. This institution is responsible for managing very important memorial locations for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are the Kovači Memorial Center, the Tunnel of Hope Museum, and the Igman War Mosque. The Fund's headquarters are located in the Old Town Municipality, on Širokac street.
