Municipality of Novi Grad allocated 100,000 KM: Efendić handed over specialized footwear to 210 police officers

(Patria) - The Mayor of Sarajevo's Municipality of Novi Grad, Semir Efendić, today handed over specialized footwear to police officers of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Police Administration (PU).

Specialized footwear for a total of 210 police officers was provided by the Municipality of Novi Grad. The footwear is waterproof and suitable for all weather conditions.

Its characteristics are in line with the Decree on the Uniform Police Uniform of Police Forces in FBiH and will be of great importance for the work of police officers in the field.

The Municipality of Novi Grad allocated 100,000 KM from its budget for the procurement of this footwear.

In a statement to journalists, Mayor Efendić said that the Municipality continuously supports the work of the local police administration every year. This time, the support came in the form of 210 pairs of specialized footwear.

Efendić says that this time the Municipality also conducted public procurement, primarily due to the known problems that have been present for years in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS, as well as at other levels of government.

- It happens that uniforms and work equipment are in very poor condition, so this time we conducted public procurement and are handing over this footwear to our Police Administration instead of a financial donation. And we hope it will be of assistance to our police - Efendić points out.

He considers it unbelievable that there is even a need for the Municipality to procure footwear for police officers, given that they are part of the KS Ministry of Internal Affairs system. However, Efendić adds, something is not functioning in that system since there is a problem with the regular procurement of clothing, footwear, and all other equipment for police work.

- This is a kind of ad hoc solution to overcome these problems by involving the Municipality. But it would be better to have a unified system, so that the Ministry of Internal Affairs can procure everything necessary for police work through normal processes and procedures - added the Mayor.

He reminds that the Municipality of Novi Grad donated two vehicles to the Novi Grad Police Administration two years ago, and somewhat earlier equipped its entire Support Unit.

The Police Commissioner of the KS Ministry of Internal Affairs, Fatmir Hajdarević, confirmed in a statement to the media that the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo has been supporting the work of the local police administration for many years and continuously, through the procurement of vehicles, equipment...

And other municipalities in the KS area are doing the same, claims Hajdarević, adding that they have excellent cooperation with local police administrations.

- The KS Police Administration was the first in FBiH to initiate the procurement of uniforms and footwear according to the unified federal decree. However, we have a problem with appeals, which is already a matter of the Law on Public Procurement - stated Hajdarević, and added that the most necessary thing is to fill staff positions and procure uniforms and protective equipment.
