Ilidža Municipality Celebrated Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day: Showing Excellence and Love for the Homeland

(Patria) - On the occasion of November 25, Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day, a Formal Session of the Ilidža Municipal Council was held today.

Addressing numerous dignitaries and guests, the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, spoke about the importance of highlighting the values of the struggle for an independent homeland of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- We, as a people and a state, have a formula for making progress in the coming period, and that is that we must be excellent, the best in our respective positions. The first thing in which we should show excellence is love for the homeland, for the municipality, to show readiness and responsibility. No matter how small these things may seem, they will lead to great success - said Mayor Muzur.

The President of the Ilidža Municipal Council, Tarik Stambolić, then announced a special guest at the Formal Session, Muamer Džananović, director of the Institute for Research of Crimes Against Humanity and International Law of the University of Sarajevo.

Džananović spoke about extremely important historical facts and the challenges we are living through and those that await us.

- Our homeland has preserved its territorial integrity and political distinctiveness. The session in Mrkonjić Grad did not mark its birth, as is often incorrectly stated, but the renewal of its statehood, confirming it as an equal community of its citizens. Although faced with aggression and genocide, it preserved its sovereignty, and the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina, members of the Army of RBiH and the Ministry of Internal Affairs showed an unbreakable spirit - said Džananović in part of his speech, adding:

- Ilidža, as a local community, respects the past, and works and builds for present and future generations, and only through such an approach can security, stability, and the preservation of our homeland be ensured. I hope that other local communities will follow this example.

As part of the celebration of Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day, a delegation of Ilidža Municipality, led by Mayor Nermin Muzur, paid tribute to martyrs and fallen soldiers by laying flowers at the Central Memorial to Martyrs and Fallen Soldiers of the Homeland War in Ilidža and at the Monument to NOR Fighters in Ilidža.

Scout detachments Igman 92, Rakovica 9, and Pofalići, members of the Ilidža Firefighting Association, Civil Protection representatives of Ilidža Municipality, Ilidža Mountain Rescue Service, numerous citizens, associations, and delegations of political parties attended the celebration of Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day in the municipality of Ilidža.

Finally, to all Bosnians and Herzegovinians, on behalf of Ilidža Municipality, Mayor Nermin Muzur, and the Ilidža Municipal Council, we wish a happy Statehood Day of our only homeland.
