Centar Municipality Allocated Over 220,000 BAM for Equipping Police Officers Over Six Years

Centar Sarajevo Municipality, led by Mayor Dževad Bećirević, although not responsible for security in the local community, recognized the importance of investing in police structures. In the past few years, the municipality began a trend of strong support and investment in equipping members of the MUP KS, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Thus, in 2011, 45,000 BAM was donated to the MUP of Sarajevo Canton. The following year, 2012, equipment worth 19,000 BAM was donated to the Support Unit, while 5,000 BAM was allocated to the First Police Administration for the maintenance of the video surveillance system.

In 2013, Centar Municipality financed the procurement of the most modern tactical equipment for providing citizen protection services and securing their property for members of the First Police Administration. From the municipal budget, 63,500 BAM was allocated for this purpose, and tactical pants and vests, long winter jackets, short and long-sleeved shirts, high boots, belts, caps, peaked caps, thermal underwear, protective suits for crowd control, police helmets, and shields were purchased.

In 2014, Centar Sarajevo Municipality purchased an off-road vehicle worth 57,900 BAM, which was given for use to the First Police Administration of the MUP of Sarajevo Canton. The same year, tactical equipment costing 30,899.70 BAM was donated to members of the First Police Administration.

Mayor Bećirević always stated during the donation ceremonies that improving the quality of police work in Centar Municipality was characterized as an obligation. And that it was not just words was shown by the past and this year, during which 58,371 BAM was allocated from the Centar Municipality budget for the procurement of tactical equipment.

Overall, from 2011 to the present, Centar Sarajevo Municipality has allocated over 220,000 BAM for equipping the police, and with such support, as emphasized, it will continue in the future.
