Centar Municipality Assists Socially Vulnerable Families

The Centar Municipality has been allocating significant funds from its budget for years to assist socially vulnerable categories of the population living within its area. One such program that has been implemented for many years is to provide participation for the purchase of basic foodstuffs – bread and milk – to pensioners with the lowest incomes who are in a state of social need, as well as persons over 65 years of age who have no income, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

- Given the difficult economic situation faced by these members of the older population, the Centar Municipality has allocated 238,000 KM in the 2015 budget for the realization of this project titled 'Permanent Financial Assistance for the Purchase of Bread and Milk for Pensioners in Social Need and Persons Over 65 Years of Age Without Income'. It is planned that this form of assistance will cover 396 of the most socially vulnerable elderly citizens from the Centar municipality (333 pensioners and 63 persons without income, aged over 65) who will receive 50 KM each month from the Municipality through the Service for Administration for Labor, Social Affairs, Health, Refugees, and Displaced Persons, intended for the purchase of milk and bread - it was announced from the Centar Municipality.

The public call for this category of the population was published at the end of last year and remains open throughout 2015.

The text of the public call with the criteria for obtaining this type of assistance is available at the Centar Municipality info point (Mis Irbina 1) and on the municipal website: www.centar.ba. Persons submitting an application with the required documentation must be from the Centar municipality, and financial assistance is awarded based on the valid Rulebook approved by the municipal mayor.

According to Mersida Veiz, a professional associate in the field of social protection in the municipal Service for Administration for Labor, Social Affairs, Health, Refugees, and Displaced Persons, only 17 socially vulnerable pensioners have applied for this type of assistance so far, which is a very small number considering the current economic situation and the position of this population category.

This assistance is currently used by 317 socially vulnerable pensioners and 48 citizens over 65 years of age who have no income whatsoever.
