Centar Municipality Continues Social Project to Aid New Mothers

At the premises of the Centar Municipality, Osmo Babić, Assistant Mayor for Labor, Health, and Social Affairs, presented one-time aid from the Municipality to six mothers from Centar who are in a state of social need. Five mothers received 300 KM each for the birth of their first child, while one mother received 500 KM for the birth of her third child, writes the Patria News Agency.

- We have been implementing this project for the third year, aiming to improve the birth rate in our municipality. All recipients of this one-time aid use the money to purchase necessary baby equipment, diapers, and food, which is welcome assistance for families with no permanently employed household members – Babić said.

As stipulated by the regulations for awarding this aid, mothers who are not employed and are eligible for child benefits are entitled to a one-time donation of 300 KM. Mothers who give birth to their third and every subsequent child are entitled to aid in the amount of 500 KM if their household's total income does not exceed the average salary in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the previous year.

During 2014, 82 mothers received this type of assistance from the Centar Municipality, of which 54 received 300 KM each, and 28 mothers received 500 KM each, for which 30,200 KM was allocated from the municipal budget. The budget for 2015 plans 40,000 KM for this project, which is implemented by the municipal Service for Labor, Health, and Social Affairs.
