Municipality Centar issues civil registry extracts for citizens from all over FBiH

The Civil Registry Office of the Municipality Centar, since the end of June 2014, has started issuing civil registry extracts for citizens born in other municipalities in the Federation of BiH within the planned timeframe. This has been enabled by the Unified Central Register, which was put into operation on May 12. As of June 30, citizens from 78 municipalities in FBiH and the city of Mostar can obtain civil registry extracts in any part of the larger entity, regardless of their place of residence.

- Although the Civil Registry Office of the Municipality Centar is operating under extraordinary circumstances due to the events in February, we have managed to meet the set deadlines. The IT staff of the Municipality Centar have transferred the complete electronic databases of the Municipality's civil registries to the new information system with a unified electronic database, and the registrars have successfully completed their training and passed the special professional exam for registrars as required by the Law on Civil Registries of the Federation of BiH – said Jasna Beba, Assistant Head of General Administration of the Municipality Centar.

She also noted that only verified data listed in the civil registry extracts can be issued to a citizen, and verification means that the data in the electronic database and in the civil registries are harmonized.

- In case another municipality has not verified the data, we contact their civil registry office by phone to verify the data, after which we are able to issue the extract to the citizen – says Beba.

Due to recent floods, only the Municipality of Domaljevac-Šamac from the Posavina Canton has not managed to be integrated into the Unified Central Register. In later phases of the Central Civil Registry project implementation, it is planned that competent state institutions will have the ability to verify data from civil registries, and cantonal MUPs will be able to perform electronic data verification in civil registries when issuing biometric passports or electronic ID cards, instead of municipalities, it was announced from the Municipality Centar, reports Patria.
