Centar Municipality: Financial aid for pensioners on January 4

The Service for Labour, Health and Social Affairs, Refugees and Displaced Persons of Centar Municipality informs beneficiaries of permanent financial aid who meet the conditions within the project "Bread and milk for pensioners", that the payment of funds will be postponed to Wednesday, January 4, 2017, due to New Year's holidays, it was announced from this municipality, writes Patria.  

This is one of the projects that Centar Municipality has been supporting for many years, within which it provides 50 marks per month for more than 400 socially endangered elderly citizens as a contribution for the purchase of basic foodstuffs – bread and milk. In the budget of the central Sarajevo Municipality for 2016, 278,000 KM was allocated for this purpose.

In order for as many elderly citizens in need to receive this type of assistance, at the proposal of the Service for Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Refugees and Displaced Persons, and at the initiative of the Commission for Status Issues of Third Age Citizens, which was adopted by the Centar Municipal Council, the municipal mayor made amendments and additions to the Rulebook on the distribution of financial resources for the allocation of permanent financial aid to pensioners in need and persons over 60 years of age who have no income.

The amendments enable socially endangered pensioners as well as persons without income who are older than 60, not 65 as it was before, to receive this type of assistance. One of the criteria until now was that the total household income could not be higher than 326 KM (minimum pension), while now this threshold has been increased to 350 KM. Changes have also been made to the prescribed apartment size in collective and individual residential buildings where these socially endangered categories live.
