
The Public Institution 'Center for Sports and Recreation', under the patronage of Centar Municipality, organized numerous sports activities in the 2014/2015 school year. The operational plan for extracurricular activities in the 2014/2015 school year planned the implementation of nine projects, reports the Patria news agency.
The implementation included 1,621 users, of which 334 were preschool children. The projects were successfully implemented, and 77,300 BAM was allocated from the municipal budget for their implementation.
The Public Institution 'Center for Sports and Recreation', founded by Centar Municipality, has a long tradition and experience in providing services in the field of sports, creating conditions for sports participation, organizing sports competitions, and maintaining sports facilities. The institution fulfills the public interest of Centar Municipality in the field of sports and recreation by providing citizens and athletes with the highest quality services while meeting their positive expectations.
The projects implemented in the 2014/2015 school year are: First-Graders' Day, gymnastics school, basketball school, football tournament, sports animation program for preschool children and the event marking Centar Municipality Day, skiing school, summer swimming school, summer football camp, and summer tennis school.
At the Olympic Stadium 'Asim Ferhatović Hase' in Koševo, a ceremonial event 'First-Graders' Day' was held for 647 first-grade students from all 11 elementary schools in Centar, organized by the Municipality. The goal of this project is to wish the first-graders a happy start to school through play and fun, as well as to encourage them to participate in organized sports and cultural activities. The Municipality allocated 3,000 BAM from the budget for this project.
Gymnastics, along with athletics and swimming, is a basic sport and occupies a significant place in the physical and health development of preschool and school-age children. The goal of the Gymnastics School project is to contribute, through exercise on the floor and apparatus, to a more proper and harmonious physical development of children and to prevent spinal deformities that can occur due to prolonged sitting at school desks.
In the 2014/2015 school year, Centar Municipality also organized a free gymnastics school for students from 11 elementary schools, from first to fifth grade. A total of 114 hours of sports gymnastics classes were held, involving 75 students and 8 children attending the mandatory preschool program. For the implementation of this project, 5,700 BAM was allocated from the budget of the central Sarajevo municipality.
As in previous years, one of the implemented projects was the basketball school for boys and girls from fifth to ninth grade from all 11 elementary schools in the Centar area. Basketball, as a sports discipline in the physical and health education program of elementary schools, holds a significant place and is rich in natural forms of movement such as running, throwing, catching, and jumping.
The goal of the project is to influence the development of a competitive spirit through various contents and elements of the basketball game, as well as to strengthen will, perseverance, and determination in children. The class was attended by 39 participants, and practice sessions were held twice a week for two hours. For the implementation of this project, 5,000 BAM was allocated.
The football tournament for students from 11 elementary schools in the Centar area began on April 1, 2015, and the final was held as part of the celebration of Centar Municipality Day from May 2 to 9. A total of 29 matches were played. The goal of this project is to popularize school competitions, develop a competitive spirit, respect fair play, familiarize participants with the rules of futsal, and potentially represent the Municipality at a higher level of competition. The number of participants is constant, as in previous years (176), as teams consist of 16 players each. From the municipal budget, 5,100 BAM was allocated for this project.
Centar Municipality, in cooperation with the Public Institution 'Center for Sports and Recreation', has been implementing a free sports animation program for preschool children aged 4 to 5.5 years from its area for ten years.
The goal of the project is to involve preschool children from the Centar municipality area in organized physical and health education classes, and to influence the child's health, intellectual, and emotional development through simple motor movements, various exercises, and games. In the past school year, the project gathered 334 children, and Centar Municipality allocated 28,000 BAM from the budget for its implementation.
Thanks to the financial support of Centar Municipality, 86 students from 11 elementary schools in the central Sarajevo municipality attended a free skiing school on Igman during the 2014/2015 school year.
The goal of the project is to enable children from lower-income families to spend time on snow during the winter season in order to master the basic elements of skiing, and through competitive activities, strengthen will, perseverance, and determination. For this project, 10,500 BAM was allocated from the municipal budget.
The swimming school was held at the Olympic Pool Otoka from June 22 to July 10, 2015. The school was attended by 86 participants from third to sixth grade from 11 elementary schools in the Centar area. Classes were organized in three shifts and were led by physical education teachers Adis Mušanović and Mirza Pašić from the 'Center for Sports and Recreation'. For the implementation of this sports project, Centar Municipality allocated 8,000 BAM.
The summer football camp for students from first to fifth grade in the 2014/2015 school year was held at the fields of the Olympic Stadium 'Koševo' and included 60 participants. During the mentioned period, a total of 20 training sessions were held, taking place every working day.
The goal of this project is to include as many elementary school students from Centar Municipality as possible in organized sports activities so that they can spend their summer vacation more usefully. From the municipal budget, 6,000 BAM was allocated for this project.
During the summer vacation, Centar Municipality, in cooperation with the CSR, also organized a free tennis school in the past school year for students of all ages attending elementary schools in the Centar area. Free tennis lessons were attended by 62 elementary school students. For the implementation of this project, Centar Municipality allocated 6,000 BAM.
Centar Municipality, led by Mayor Dževad Bećirević, has also secured funds for the continuation of sports projects in the 2015/2016 school year, it was announced from Centar Municipality.
