The cadet basketball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in last night's final match of the European Championship, defeated the host team Lithuania with a score of 85:83, where for the first time in the history of our country they won a gold medal in basketball, reports the news agency Patria.
The winners of the European gold were also congratulated by the Mayor of Centar Municipality Dževad Bećirević, together with his associates, who in mid-May this year signed a protocol by which Centar Municipality allocated 10,000 KM from its 2015 budget for the preparations of the cadet basketball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the European Championship held in Lithuania.
On behalf of the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the protocol was signed by Harun Mahmutović, Secretary General of the Basketball Federation.
On that occasion, Mahmutović said that at the upcoming European Championship they expect, for the first time in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to win one of the medals, because the cadet team of Bosnia and Herzegovina can compete with teams from Italy, France, Spain...
-Our young basketball players form the backbone of the future national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina in basketball for the next ten to 15 years. With the financial resources allocated by Centar Municipality, we intend to provide our cadets with adequate training conditions so that they can participate as prepared as possible in the championship in Lithuania, Mahmutović emphasized at the time, announced from Centar Municipality.
