Municipality Centar Donated 60,000 KM to Vogošća for Landslide Damage Repair

Chairman of the Municipal Council Centar Nedžad Ajnadžić and Assistant to the Mayor for Civil Protection of Municipality Centar Vahid Bećirević visited Municipality Vogošća today and handed over to Mayor Edin Smajić a protocol according to which an additional 60 thousand marks were allocated to this local community for the repair of damage from the May floods, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

In addition to the aforementioned funds, Municipality Centar paid 20 thousand marks to Vogošća in May this year, immediately after the landslide in Svrake occurred, to overcome the initial problems. To remind, Municipality Centar allocated 500 thousand KM to local communities in BiH affected by floods.

According to Mayor Smajić, Municipality Centar is one of the largest donors who have helped Vogošća in difficult times.

- The responsible approach of Mayor Dževad Bećirević resulted in Municipality Centar being well-organized and having resources and money. It is a nice feeling to have such a neighbor. We can be happy that Municipality Centar has funds that it does not keep aside but helps the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Smajić emphasized.

In Vogošća, in addition to the landslide in Svrake, soil movement has been observed at 40 other locations. As Smajić emphasized, this municipality faces a difficult and long road to recovery.

- A detailed assessment has not yet been completed in Svrake, but we have a landslide remediation project for which more than 1.5 million KM is needed. This does not include houses. Geologists and experts are completing their part of the work, and they need to determine the narrower zone from which there will be no return and where construction will no longer be allowed, then which facilities can remain with certain remediation measures, and finally, which facilities people can return to immediately. For now, families from evacuated facilities are housed in apartments in Rosulje, which the Cantonal Housing Fund has made available to Municipality Vogošća - said Smajić.

Chairman Ajnadžić emphasized on this occasion that Municipality Vogošća and its mayor are good neighbors and that Municipality Centar, in accordance with its capabilities and on the principle of solidarity, intends to continue to help.

- We want these funds to be used purposefully, primarily for the remediation of landslides and other consequences of the disaster that befell this area. We plan to help all municipalities affected by floods next year as well - said Ajnadžić.
