Centar Municipality Allocates 10,000 BAM for Acquisition of New Animal Species in Pionirska Dolina

Centar Sarajevo Municipality has been supporting the work of the only zoo in our country, Pionirska Dolina, for years. The support is primarily reflected in financing the acquisition of new animal species. This year as well, funds for this purpose have been provided in the budget of Centar Municipality. Mayor Dževad Bećirević visited KJKP "Park" today and on that occasion handed over a protocol to the acting director of this company, Alen Ramić, according to which Centar Municipality allocated 10,000 BAM for the acquisition of new animal species this year, Patria news agency reports.

Mayor Bećirević emphasized that Centar Municipality allocates funds every year for the purchase of new animal species and, speaking about future projects, reminded that the Jezero-Betanija park, maintained by Centar Municipality, is located near Pionirska Dolina.

- We should use this space in a way that connects the Jezero-Betanija park and Pionirska Dolina, and in that way the zoo would gain an additional 80 dunams of land. I hope that the cantonal authorities and future mayors, as well as authorities from all over BiH, will be receptive to this idea because the zoo in Sarajevo is frequently visited by school excursions from all parts of the country - Bećirević emphasized, adding that the Municipality annually allocates up to 400 thousand BAM to KJKP "Park", which maintains green areas in the Centar area.

Ramić said that the donation from Centar Municipality is only part of the support from this local community, and added that a series of projects in the field of horticulture and space arrangement are planned.

- Thanks to this donation, by the end of September, Pionirska Dolina should receive ten species of autochthonous Bosnian pigeons, and the acquisition of the Bosnian mountain dog and the Bosnian mountain horse is also planned, Ramić pointed out.
