(Patria) - Delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament Dženan Đonlagić (DF) stated today in the show "Novi dan" on N1 that the EU is losing political influence in BiH, while the new American administration is taking on a more dominant role in the region.
Speaking about the arrival of European officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the relations of international centers of power towards our country, Đonlagić said that Brussels is currently only following Washington's moves.
- I think Europe is losing that political battle. Europe is now just doing a follow-up, meaning following American activities. Americans are much more proactive and several steps ahead of the European administration - assesses Đonlagić.
He points out that the change in relations is seen through the "energy-economic activities of the new American administration in the Western Balkans and in Bosnia and Herzegovina".
Đonlagić believes that the current government has made almost no European progress and that BiH will not get a date to start negotiations with the EU this year either.
- Unfortunately, the conclusion remains that Bosnia and Herzegovina will not get a date for negotiations for membership in the European Union this year either - emphasizes Đonlagić.
He assessed the visit of the President of the European Council, António Costa, to Sarajevo as more protocolary than substantive.
- I think this visit is purely protocolary and will not bring any significant progress - believes Đonlagić.
According to him, Bosnia and Herzegovina will not make a more serious European move until the elections and the formation of a new government.
- Bosnia and Herzegovina has frozen its European path. There will be no new steps until the new elections and the constitution of the new government - warns Đonlagić.
He was very harsh when speaking about the current government at the state level, accusing it of corruption, rigging tenders, and siphoning money from public institutions.
- I think this is the most corrupt government that has ever been formed in post-Dayton Bosnia and Herzegovina - said Đonlagić.
He added that investigations are underway against numerous officials.
- In the structure of this government, you have ministers who are under investigation, who have been arrested. Tenders are being rigged and money is being siphoned off - emphasizes Đonlagić.
He also reminds that European financial institutions have suspended funding for Autoceste in the Federation of BiH.
Speaking about the risk of BiH ending up on Moneyval's "grey list" due to unfulfilled international obligations in the fight against money laundering, he stressed that he expects a negative decision as early as next month.
- I think the decision next month will be that Bosnia and Herzegovina goes on Moneyval's grey list - adds Đonlagić.
He also warns that citizens and the economy could feel the consequences.
- Supervision of all international financial transactions will be increased. Payment transactions will be slower and probably more expensive. It is possible that costs and interest rates will rise - stated the delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament.
He blamed the government for such a situation, stating that a state agency to manage assets confiscated from crime and money laundering has not been established.
Đonlagić believes that the eventual closure of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) would represent a serious political blow to the Dayton arrangement of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- The closure of the OHR is the end of the Dayton Peace Agreement, or rather the Dayton arrangement of Bosnia and Herzegovina - is the opinion of Đonlagić.
He also pointed out that changing the high representative is not a key issue, but that an "American" in that position would be "more proactive".
- He would be more proactive, for sure - said Đonlagić, speaking about the possibility of the new high representative being an American.
Commenting on the claims of former US Ambassador Michael Murphy that SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović was ready to accept the division of BiH during the negotiations, Đonlagić said it was a "complete untruth".
- I think this is Murphy's attempt to push the "Trojka" parties again in a new episode because it is evident that they are in decline - said Đonlagić.
He also adds that the issue of the future political organization of BiH after the 2026 elections is already opening up.
- What awaits Bosnia and Herzegovina after the October elections is the dynamization of the story about remodeling the country's organization - concluded Đonlagić.
