(Patria) - The Main Board of SDP BiH yesterday made a decision to hold the SDP BiH Congress on June 28. However, the agenda for that Congress has not yet been determined, and it will be preceded by another session of the Main Board, which will specify the activities for the June Congress.
Nermin Nikšić, the president of SDP, whose term was extended at the 2023 Congress, contrary to the provisions of the Statute, and about which some prominent SDP members spoke publicly, claims he has accepted that he can no longer run, but...
“I have no desires and ambitions there, I have accepted that according to the Statute I can no longer run for president of SDP, and I am not campaigning for it. There are some initiatives within SDP, but the Congress, which we scheduled for June 28 this year, will make a decision on that,” Nikšić said on Dnevnik D on FTV on Thursday.
According to Patria's information, Nikšić's loyal cadres are tasked with lobbying delegates and securing a majority to extend Nikšić's mandate as party president once again.
Some members of the Main Board had previously warned the party bodies that elections for the president, as well as for other internal party bodies, must be held, but apparently, the currents around Nikšić, with his approval, have devised another plan.
Nikšić has been at the head of SDP since 2014, and has already served two terms as the Prime Minister of the FBiH Government.
