Human Rights Ombudsmen Launch Investigation into Discrimination in FUP

After the Police Board rejected the appeal of four candidates who were among the 15 most successful candidates for admission to the Special Police of the Federal Police Administration, and whom the director Dragan Lukač removed solely because they were Bosniaks, replacing them with candidates from the ranks of Croats and Others, the entire case was reported to the human rights ombudsmen, reports the Patria agency.

After receiving the complaint from the injured candidates who pointed to obvious discrimination, the ombudsmen launched an investigation.

As the Patria agency learns, the Institution of the Human Rights Ombudsman has requested a statement from the director of the FUP, Dragan Lukač, regarding this case.

We recall that the same scenario occurred in 2016, when the competition was eventually annulled, but this year Lukač, with the support of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aljoša Čampara, and due to the specific situation of the lack of parliamentary oversight over the work of the FUP, succeeded in his intentions, and those candidates who had far fewer points than the four deleted candidates were admitted to the Special Unit.

Several injured candidates have given up further struggle after the Police Board rejected the appeals, but other candidates want to fully clarify the case.
