Round Table on the Topic 'Disability and Gender-Based Violence'

(Patria) - The Association of the Blind of Sarajevo Canton, in partnership with the Information Center for Persons with Disabilities ˝Lotos˝ Tuzla, announced a round table for today in Sarajevo to promote the project ˝Disability and Gender-Based Violence - Building Capacities Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence˝.

The organizers intend to inform relevant institutions and organizations about the project and its goals, and to motivate them to participate more actively in resolving the issue of sexual and gender-based violence against persons with disabilities in BiH.

The announced participants are key stakeholders who can contribute directly or indirectly to more effective resolution of this issue in BiH society.

The round table will discuss the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding sexual and gender-based violence against persons with disabilities, the possibilities for building institutional capacities to respond to this phenomenon, and the possibilities for building the capacities of organizations of persons with disabilities to respond to this problem.

Invited participants include representatives of state, federal, and cantonal government institutions, as well as representatives of five coalitions of organizations of persons with disabilities in BiH.

The project ˝Disability and Gender-Based Violence – Building Capacities Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence˝ is supported by the organization MyRight – Empowers people with disabilities and Radio Hjälpen from Sweden.

It is being implemented from October 2020 to September 2022.
