Public debate concluded: Kapidžić says "Quadrant C - Marijin Dvor" regulatory plan must be withdrawn

(Patria) - Architect Faruk Kapidžić addressed the public debate on the Draft Regulatory Plan “Quadrant C – Marijin Dvor” this evening. He addressed the numerous interested citizens who gathered, and before him, starting at 8 PM, architects, activists, and citizens who oppose the construction of a 12-story building and other infrastructure that will further suffocate Sarajevo, also addressed the attendees.

The debate was held in the hall of the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council, after citizens lobbied for the debate to be held in an adequate hall, instead of the planned premises of the Local Community in Pofalići, which could not accommodate all attendees.

Kapidžić stated that the conclusion of the public debate should be the withdrawal of the plan, and that he will initiate a motion through city councilors to withdraw it. However, there is not much time for such a move.

He pointed out that the Mayor of Sarajevo, whom we do not have, the Prime Minister of KS, whom we have, and the relevant minister, whom we have but do not have, should have been present at the public debate tonight.

"The Minister of Transport and the Director of the KS Planning Institute, who are key to this, should have also been here. If I had drafted this, I would be sitting here. Do not vent your anger on those who work for a salary, and a small salary at that. It is easy to rebel, but if you live on such a salary, it is not easy. I watched how they drafted and cried at the Planning Institute because they were under political pressure.

They need another public debate and the final vote. It was not voted on because the decision on wind corridors came. What I fought for for nine months, they removed after four years. Politics is not important, because this was drafted before the 'trojka' and planned to be implemented. The Mayor, before leaving, made two moves, one is to remove the guidelines for Vasa Miskina. The Mayor put this up for public debate and set a deadline of one month, so I cannot postpone it. The goal is for this City Council to vote on it, and then it will go to Novo Sarajevo, where she is the mayor. From experience, I know that no matter how much you protest, it will pass. You will object, but it will go through," said Kapidžić.

Objections can be submitted until December 9th.

Dean of PFM Nusret Drešković also addressed the attendees tonight, stating that the University was not consulted regarding this regulatory plan, and that the planned construction is on the land of the University of Sarajevo and the Faculty of Science and Mathematics.

At the very end, Prof. Dr. Drešković asked how they would be able to file appeals against the minutes, which should be published in the next two days, because he wants all the objections raised by the participants tonight to be included in the minutes.
