Meeting at the US Embassy concluded: South Interconnection should be built as soon as possible, gas pipeline to be managed by an American company

(Patria) - US Embassy Chargé d'Affaires John Ginkel met today in Sarajevo with five leaders of the ruling coalition in the Federation of BiH to accelerate progress on the key South Interconnection project, the American Embassy announced this evening.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Nermin Nikšić (SDP BiH), Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament Dragan Čović (HDZ BiH), Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Elmedin Konaković (NiP), Member of the BiH Parliament Sabina Ćudić (Naša stranka), and Delegate to the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament Ilija Cvitanović (HDZ 1990).

"The participants expressed a unified stance that the construction of the South Interconnection needs to begin as soon as possible. Chargé d'Affaires Ginkel led discussions on the possibility of an American company taking over the development, construction, and management of the gas pipeline.

The participants generally agreed with this proposal and committed to further, more detailed discussions.

American private investors can ensure that the construction of the South Interconnection progresses quickly and help secure the supply of affordable and reliable American liquefied natural gas, thereby strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina's energy security," the US Embassy in Sarajevo stated after the meeting.
