OHR states: Dayton Agreement remains the foundation for a peaceful and prosperous future

(Patria) - The Office of the High Representative in BiH (OHR) issued a statement on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the initialing of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The OHR stated that 28 years later, the Dayton Peace Agreement represents a symbol of perseverance and the lasting desire of BiH and its citizens for stability, progress, and a prosperous future within the wider European family.

(Patria) - The Dayton Peace Agreement was initialed on this day, November 21, 1995, in Dayton, and signed three weeks later. The agreement established two entities – the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska. Although it was intended to be a temporary solution,

"Bosnia and Herzegovina has maintained its continuity as a single, sovereign, internationally recognized state, with an altered internal structure with two entities that legally exist based on the Dayton Agreement.

The agreement not only stopped the painful suffering but also paved the way for reconstruction and reconciliation.

Challenges still exist, but there is no doubt that an exceptional transformation has been achieved from a war-torn country to an EU candidate country.
