Tomorrow's session of the House of Peoples of the PSBiH is eagerly awaited, and for the Patria News Agency, OHR spokesperson Eldar Subašić, when asked by NAP journalists whether they will react and what they will do if the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing is not adopted, said that they never announce their reactions. However, Subašić stated that the OHR calls on the BiH House of Peoples to adopt the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorist Activities, as well as amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH tomorrow.
- The adoption of these laws would comply with the recommendations of the Committee of Experts of the Council of Europe for the evaluation of measures against money laundering and terrorist financing (MONEYVAL), and improve BiH's ability to combat money laundering and terrorist financing – says Subašić.
He further stated that the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina should take seriously the warnings from MONEYVAL that, as long as the recommended regulations are not adopted, enhanced due diligence is advised when it comes to transactions with persons and financial institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the risk of possible money laundering and terrorist financing.
