OHR on Pride Parade: Freedom of Assembly is a Basic Human Right

(Patria) - The Office of the High Representative views the upcoming Bosnian-Herzegovinian Pride Parade in Sarajevo as an example of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, which are fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is no reason for BiH to be the only country in the region where the LGBT community is unable to hold a peaceful gathering.
 
"We expect the competent authorities to take all appropriate measures to enable this peaceful gathering to take place without interruption and without fear of violence among participants. The Pride Parade on Sunday should once again show the world that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a tolerant, free and open society, safe for all its citizens," the OHR stated.
