OHIO Multi-member BiH delegation at the 'Dayton Dialogue: Conversations on Peace and Security in the Balkans' forum

(Patria) - From May 23 to 26, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, USA, at the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and a public forum titled 'Dayton Dialogue: Conversations on Peace and Security in the Balkans', organized by the University of Dayton and the office of US Congressman Michael
Turner on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, a multi-member delegation from BiH will participate. Members of the Presidency of BiH are also staying in the USA.

In addition to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Elmedin Konaković, the BiH delegation includes the Chairman of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) Kemal Ademović and the Deputy Chairmen of the Delegation Marina Pendeš and Obren Petrović.

The participants of the session will be welcomed by the Chairman of the US Delegation to the NATO PA Congressman Michael Turner, Governor of the US state of Ohio Mike Dewine, President of the NATO PA Marcos Perestrell, as well as the Deputy Secretary of State of the USA Chris Landau.

As announced, Congressman Turner will chair the panel discussion titled 'Then and Now: Reconsidering the Situation in the Balkans in the Post-Dayton World'. American and European diplomats who have served in diplomatic missions in BiH and the Western Balkans region, as well as current political officials from BiH, the region, and Europe and the USA, are expected to participate in this panel discussion.

Within the Political Committee of the NATO PA, the report 'Western Balkans: 30 Years After the Signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement', by rapporteur Tomas Valasek, is scheduled for consideration.

The High Representative in BiH Christian Schmidt will also be in Dayton, as well as former US Ambassador to BiH Michael Murphy, and a delegation from the Republic of Croatia.

In addition to marking the 30th anniversary of the conclusion of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, the plenary session of the NATO PA will also discuss the enhancement of NATO's deterrence and defense capabilities to a higher level, on which the Draft Declaration will be presented by the Vice-President of the NATO PA Agnes Vadai.

A vote will also be held on the Draft Declaration 'Peace Through Strength in Ukraine', prepared by the Vice-President of the NATO PA Alec Shelbrooke.
