Wrapped in BiH flag, performed midday prayer

Fans of our national football team have been on the streets since early morning with fan paraphernalia and BiH flags. As the day progresses, the euphoria is growing, writes the Patria News Agency.

Today, a Patria reporter recorded that the midday prayer at the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque in Sarajevo was performed under somewhat "different conditions." One fan, wrapped in a BiH flag, performed the midday prayer in the courtyard of the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque.

We remind you that earlier, a fan sent an official inquiry to the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in BiH asking if it was permissible to pray for the success of the national football team. At that time, Prof. Dr. Enes Ljevaković, fetva-i-emin of the Islamic Community, replied that praying to Allah Almighty for the success of the "Dragons" is not only permissible but that defending one's homeland is a religious duty. The expert in Sharia law answered him:

- Every victory of our national team gladdens true patriots, and believers are among them, so we see no problem in asking Allah Almighty in prayer to help achieve what will bring joy to believers and patriots. Love for one's native soil and homeland is a natural phenomenon; it is a necessary condition for its defense, and its defense is also a religious duty, as is anything that strengthens that feeling. There is no evidence that this is a sin - explained Ljevaković, writes Patria.
