(Patria) - The president of the National European Alliance (NES) BiH, Nermin Ogrešević, reacted to the latest ruling of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in the case of Slaven Kovačević.
"The ruling of the European Court of Human Rights, according to which Bosnia and Herzegovina should be one electoral unit in the election of the Presidency members of BiH and that all citizens must be consulted in the election of delegates to the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, confirmed the correctness of NES's positions that we advocated during the negotiations on amendments to the Election Law of BiH and the Constitution in Neum and Sarajevo.
The ruling of the European Court should be the basis of all our future negotiations, something that will represent all political forces that want Bosnia and Herzegovina to be organized as a European, democratic state in which there is enough space for all our citizens, Orthodox, Catholic, Islamic, as well as all other religions.
This is precisely what NES has advocated for during all negotiations and has not deviated an inch from these positions.
The ruling of the European Court of Human Rights is an opportunity to finally end the systemic discrimination in Bosnia and Herzegovina caused by the Dayton arrangement.
After all, Bosnia and Herzegovina will have to do this anyway if it wants to be part of the European Union.
Therefore, no calculations or concessions should be allowed when it comes to the implementation of this important ruling of the European Court of Human Rights," Ogrešević stated.
