Russian Embassy Responds After Meeting with Mijatović

(Patria) - The Russian Embassy, via its Facebook profile, shared a statement about today's meeting between Ambassador Igor Kalabukhov and SDP Vice-President Vojin Mijatović, stating that the ambassador responded to each point of Mijatović's letter individually and in detail.

- The ambassador confirmed the Russian Federation's commitment to the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of BiH and, in this context, cited the following provision from the European Commission's Opinion on the conditions for BiH's integration into the European Union: "such extensive international supervision (in the form of the Office of the High Representative) is in principle incompatible with the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and therefore with EU membership," the embassy stated.

They emphasize that Kalabuhov explained the situation regarding the appointment of the High Representative to Mijatović in detail, and why Christian Schmidt was not legitimately elected, reports SB.

We remind you that Mijatović said earlier today that he considers Russia a friendly country to BiH and that he is very uncomfortable seeing Kalabuhov standing with a criminal like Nenad Stevandić. Although the Russian Embassy's statement does not provide details of the conversation anywhere, they emphasize that Kalabuhov listened to all of Mijatović's assessments of "separate politicians in BiH." The subjectivity of similar characteristics was also highlighted.

- During the constructive conversation, an understanding was reached on the necessity of efforts by the political forces in BiH themselves in the field of inter-ethnic reconciliation, establishing dialogue based on mutual respect, which constitutes the only basis for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Russian Federation is ready to contribute to this process, the embassy stated.
