205 kg of smuggled tobacco seized

Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority in the Tuzla Regional Center  temporarily seized 205 kg of tobacco that was not marked with excise stamps, reports the Patria News Agency.

In a joint operation by the UIO's Smuggling and Offenses Prevention Team in the Tuzla Regional Center and police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Olovo Police Station, 166 kg of cut tobacco was temporarily seized from an individual on suspicion of illegal trade in excise goods.

During a traffic control, a passenger motor vehicle was stopped, in which cut tobacco not marked with excise stamps in accordance with the Law on Excise Duties in BiH was found. An offense procedure will be initiated against the person from whom the tobacco was seized.

Also, in a joint operation by the UIO's Smuggling and Offenses Prevention Team in the Tuzla Regional Center and police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, Doboj Public Security Center, Bosanski Šamac Police Station, 39 kg of finely cut tobacco was temporarily seized on suspicion of illegal trade in excise goods.

Namely, during a regular traffic control, after stopping a passenger motor vehicle in the municipality of Bosanski Šamac, it was determined that an individual had 39 kg of finely cut tobacco, among other things, in his vehicle, which was not marked with excise stamps. An offense procedure will be initiated against the said person, it was announced from the UIO BiH.
