198 kg of tobacco worth 25,540 KM seized

Officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority, in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Interior of Zenica-Doboj Canton, temporarily seized 198 kg of tobacco with a market value of 25,540 KM in the municipality of Olovo, reports the Patria news agency.

During a regular traffic control, a larger quantity of tobacco was discovered in a passenger motor vehicle occupied by one person, which was not marked with excise stamps in the legally prescribed manner. The operation was carried out jointly by authorized officials of the ITA from the Tuzla regional center and police officers of the Ministry of Interior of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Olovo police station.

- In the passenger motor vehicle, among other things, a quantity of 198 kg of finely cut tobacco was found, which is an excise product and as such must be marked with excise stamps issued by the Indirect Taxation Authority. The total market value of this tobacco amounts to 25,540 KM. Following the instructions of the duty prosecutor, the goods were temporarily seized, and a request for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be filed against the individual. It is particularly noted that a settlement agreement on a sanction in the amount of 3,000 KM was reached with the said person - stated the ITA.
