Confiscated smuggled selfie sticks from China worth 20,000 KM

Officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority, during a control of imported goods at the Sarajevo Customs Office, temporarily confiscated a larger quantity of selfie sticks whose total value was estimated at 20,000 KM, announced by the UIO BiH, reports the Patria news agency.

As part of the implementation of planned measures and activities to control the import of goods of Asian origin, authorized officials of the UIO Regional Center Sarajevo - Group for the Prevention of Smuggling and Offenses carried out an inspection of a container shipment from China declared for customs clearance at the Sarajevo Customs Office.

On that occasion, the smuggling of 2,000 pieces of selfie sticks with a market value of 20,000 KM was discovered and prevented. During these control activities, UIO officers used equipment and vehicles donated by the US Government through the EXBS program.

Against the legal entity and the responsible person, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Offenses of BiH, a request for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be submitted to the competent court, the statement reads.
