Confiscated smuggled medicines and tobacco

Authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority, in cooperation with Border Police officers, confiscated 10,000 tablets and 32 ampoules of various steroids, found in a bus traveling on the Zrenjanin – Banja Luka route, reports the BH News Agency Patria.  

As announced by the ITA BiH, at the City Market in Gračanica and the Green Market in Klokotnica, ITA officers, with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, confiscated 931 packs of cigarettes and 23 kilograms of cut tobacco for rolling and smoking.

In the evening hours of 27.11.2014, in the village of Dragaljevac, ITA and Border Police officers stopped a bus of the company “BIG-TOURS” Banja Luka, which was operating on the Zrenjanin - Banja Luka line. During the inspection of the aforementioned bus, a certain quantity of medicines – steroids (10,000 tablets and 32 ampoules) was found in the upper compartment and behind the driver's seat.

Given that this is prohibited merchandise, and therefore prohibited for import into Bosnia and Herzegovina, the duty prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office was informed about the discovery of the goods, and according to whose instructions the goods in question were confiscated. The ITA will file a report on the committed criminal offense from Article 214, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of BiH against the perpetrators.

At the City Market in Gračanica and the Green Market in Klokotnica (Doboj Istok), ITA officers, with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, confiscated 931 packs of cigarettes and 23 kilograms of tobacco for rolling and smoking.

This was tobacco and tobacco products that were sold “on the black market”, i.e., they were not marked in the legally prescribed manner with valid excise stamps. For individuals who illegally placed the subject tobacco products on the market, requests for initiating misdemeanor proceedings have been filed with the competent Court, in accordance with the Law on Excise Duties in BiH. This is just one of the actions to suppress the illegal sale of tobacco and tobacco products that have been or will be carried out in markets throughout BiH.
