Confiscated cigarettes, mobile phones and other technical equipment

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Authorised officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority in two separate operations in the area covered by the Regional Centre Tuzla seized various goods worth 45,000 KM, the UIO BiH announced.

Authorised officers of the UIO from the Groups for Prevention of Smuggling and Offences, RC Tuzla, in cooperation with officers of the MUP RS, conducted an operational activity during which they confiscated 4,890 packs of various cigarettes that were not marked with BiH excise stamps. These are excise products intended for sale on the „black market“ because they were not marked with excise stamps issued by the Indirect Taxation Authority, nor was there documentation on the origin of the goods.

The second operational activity, based on earlier operational information, was carried out at the GP Rača border crossing. A detailed inspection of a bus at GP Rača was conducted using specialist equipment, and on that occasion a larger quantity of mobile phones and other technical equipment was found in the roof of the bus and the ventilation space.

The total value of the temporarily seized goods is estimated at around 45,000 KM. During the implementation of measures within its competence, specialised equipment was used, as well as vehicles donated by the American Embassy through the EXBS programme.
