Larger quantity of cut tobacco and textiles worth 105,000 KM seized

Officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority seized a larger quantity of cut tobacco and textiles worth 105,000 KM on a road in Tuzla Canton.

Officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority, Group for the Prevention of Smuggling and Offences, Regional Centre Tuzla, based on several months of operational work, conducted a search of a passenger motor vehicle owned by a person with initials H.M., all in accordance with instructions from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and the Court of BiH. With the help of specialised vehicle inspection equipment, donated to the Authority by the American Embassy through the EXBS programme, 275 kg of finely cut tobacco without excise stamps was found.

Based on operational information, officers of the Group for the Prevention of Smuggling and Offences, RC Tuzla, on a road in the area of the Tuzla regional centre, seized 1,125 pieces of textile products that were of foreign origin and without legally prescribed documentation.

The total value of the temporarily seized goods in these two operations amounts to 105,000 KM. Against the perpetrator of the described illegalities, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Offences of BiH, requests for initiating misdemeanour proceedings will be submitted to the competent court.
