Commemoration held for 116 victims of the Ahmići massacre

AHMIĆI, (Patria) - With the message "We seek truth and build coexistence", the 26th anniversary of the suffering of 116 civilians of Bosniak nationality, who were killed in an attack by HVO members on the village of Ahmići, Vitez municipality, is being marked today.

For the first time, a commemoration was held for the 116 victims who perished in the massacre in the village of Ahmići during an attack by the HVO's Jokeri unit. The youngest victim was a three-month-old baby.

The commemoration was attended by representatives of the Islamic Community in BiH, BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović, FBiH Vice President Melika Mahmutbegović, and numerous residents of Ahmići, as well as citizens participating in the "Path of Truth and Remembrance" march, who walked from Stari Vitez to Ahmići this morning.

Family members of the victims pointed out that 29 more victims are still being searched for, and that their remains have never been identified.
