Commemoration for Muhamed Filipović held at ANU BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – A commemoration for the late academician Muhamed Filipović was held today at the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which family members did not attend. Members of the academic community and those who shared ideas and thoughts with academician Filipović responded to the commemoration.

Academician Esad Duraković said that there are fewer and fewer people like Filipović and that we are only left without him in a physical sense.

“Today we say goodbye to his body, but we will forever remain with his work,” said Duraković.

Academician Duraković also commented on the invitation from academician Filipović's family not to attend the commemoration at ANU BiH.

“There are two significant pieces of misinformation in that family appeal not to attend the commemoration today at ANU BiH. One is that the commemoration at the Rectorate was organized without the knowledge and invitation of those organizers to the Academy of Sciences and Arts. We knew nothing about it, no one invited us. The second misinformation is that this Academy organizes commemorations with other institutions, and not, as it says there, by the Academy itself,” explained Duraković.

Adil Kulenović, president of the Association of Independent Intellectuals Krug 99, said that no actor in public life, whether in socialism or in this era, could avoid referring to what Professor Filipović thought, whether they agreed with him or not.
