Commemoration and funeral held for Adnan Solaković

A memorial service on the occasion of the sudden death of war commander and SBB representative in the KS Assembly Adnan Solaković was held today in the Municipality of Centar, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

- This is an opportunity to bid farewell to our dear colleague Adnan in a dignified and humane manner, in the presence of his colleagues, relatives, and friends. A man with a big heart, which had room for everyone, a great fighter for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a patriot, a selfless friend, an exemplary son, a caring father, husband, and grandfather - said the Speaker of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly Sejo Bukva.

He also emphasized that Adnan was recognizable for his great life energy and special spirit, and that this will remain a lasting memory of him, by which everyone will remember him.

The Minister for Veterans' Affairs of KS Muharem Fišo said with sadness in his voice, among other things, that with the departure of Adnan Solaković, a book of exceptionally rich content has closed.

- A person has passed away, full of good and noble deeds. A great Bosnian heart has stopped beating. My friend, comrade, fellow soldier, Bosnian ghazi, and member of the cantonal Assembly Adnan Solaković has moved to a better world - said Minister Fišo, recalling that sad day when on Monday morning the sad news that Adnan died of a pulmonary embolism spread like lightning through the corridors, telephones, and social networks.

Minister Fišo emphasized that Adnan was always on the side of the weaker, because he was a great man and patriot, and he was politically engaged to help the fighters.

- I know this best, because if I saw him, he immediately had a proposal to help one of the fighters who were in a poor financial situation, or he would seek help for them in employment, directly advocating exclusively for others, never asking for anything for himself - emphasized Minister Fišo, adding that for everyone, Adnan was truly a great guy and the embodiment of all the good that our city could offer.

He was born in 1954 in Sarajevo. He dedicated his life to sports. He was a multiple champion of the former Yugoslavia in weightlifting and a black belt holder in karate. He graduated from the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education of UNSA, where he also obtained his master's degree. He was an organizer of resistance and a member of the Veterans' Association "Zelene beretke" (Green Berets), where he was recently elected president of the Assembly. He retired with the rank of brigadier.

- He was a respected war commander whom everyone valued and respected - said Jasmin Panjeta, Adnan's fellow soldier, weeping, stating that his commander was always ahead of his soldiers, in whom they had endless trust, because he had a big heart that never disappointed them.

In the 2014 elections, he was appointed as a representative of the KS Assembly and the president of the SBB Club in the KS Assembly.

- Bosnia and Herzegovina mourns the departure of another of its ghazis. Just when we least expected it, our Adnan, the brave and legendary defender of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of the great symbols of the miracle of Bosnian resistance, passed away - said the president of the SBB party Fahrudin Radončić, emphasizing that at this moment when we are all bidding farewell to our Adnan, our only comfort can be his life full of dignity, his character, his heroic struggle, which is permanently built into the foundations of sovereign BiH, his and our Sarajevo, and the lives of all of us.

The funeral prayer and burial of Adnan Solaković were performed in the harem of Alipašina mosque with military honors. Hundreds of friends, fellow soldiers, and fellow citizens of this brave retired brigadier attended the funeral prayer and burial.
