Commemoration held for Dženan Uščuplić: You were the embodiment of goodness, strength and love...

(Patria) - Tonight, a commemoration was held at the Sarajevo Youth Theatre on the occasion of the tragic death of legendary footballer and coach of FK Sarajevo, Dženan Uščuplić.

Several hundred people attended tonight's commemoration, and among those who addressed the audience was the legendary Mehmed Janjoš.

Also addressing those present was the author of Bordo vremeplov, Semir Zilić, as well as the late Dženan's friend, Mevludin Mekić, who together with him very often visited the mountains.

A particularly emotional speech was given by Mehmed Janjoš, the celebrated coach of FK Sarajevo, who had an unbreakable bond with Uščuplić and a very close collaboration over the years in the Bordo team, reports sportsport.ba.



"In this very difficult moment, it is hard to choose words with which we can consistently bid farewell to such a, above all, human being, brother, brother-in-law, wonderful footballer and noble coach, and never forgotten Dženan. As your coach, I remember your beginnings, your talent, your love for football and the way you brought that. You were the embodiment of goodness, the embodiment of strength and love for all the people you knew, and especially for your Bistrik people, the neighbourhood you loved with your heart and were proud of, as you used to tell me. All of us who knew you could not help but love you. Dear Dženo, you are returning to your Lord, in whom you always believed and did deeds that you believed were good," said Janjoš.

The commemoration was attended by several first-team players of FK Sarajevo, the legendary footballer of the Bordo team, Mirsad Fazlagić, besides him there were also the current coach Zoran Zekić, the most decorated coach of the Bordo team, Husref Musemić, legendary defender Sedin Torlak, and numerous other famous personalities who came to bid farewell to Uščuplić.




The commemoration ended with a performance of Kemal Monteno's song, "Sarajevo, ljubavi moja".

We remind you, Dženan Uščuplić tragically died at the age of 48 from a lightning strike.

He left his greatest mark at FK Sarajevo, where after his playing career ended in 2002, he dedicated himself to coaching.

He was the on-call "firefighter" at Koševo, and held almost all positions. He led the cadets, the juniors, was an assistant in the first team, and the first coach of the team.

His last engagement was as the coach of the FK Sarajevo juniors, a position he held until November 2023.

Three times in his coaching career he was the youth champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and he also won the BiH Cup three times in youth categories.

Also, in 2015, he led the senior team to the championship title of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
