(Patria) - A protest by employees was held today in front of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Sarajevo, due to the announced construction of the WTC in the immediate vicinity, whose construction plan has violated the property and land of PMF, i.e., the University of Sarajevo.
The rally was attended by the Rector of UNSA, Tarik Zaimović, as well as former Rectors of UNSA, Rifat Škrijelj and Muharem Avdispahić, who are also professors at this faculty.
Zaimović pointed out that when it comes to property, the European Convention has undisputed and clear provisions.
"I see several police officers, and I don't remember anyone giving them permission to enter. Be sure that we will not allow construction machinery to enter UNSA property. It is senseless for us to discuss today whether a road will pass here. I sincerely hope that the KS Planning and Development Institute will go in another direction. I hope that 2025 will be a slightly better year in terms of the KS Government's relationship with UNSA", Zaimović stated.

The President of the Student Parliament of UNSA, Imran Pašalić, stated:
"If they follow in the footsteps of Aleksandar Vučić, we will follow in the footsteps of the students of Belgrade and Novi Sad. Students stand at the disposal of the University of Sarajevo and PMF", said Pašalić.
The Dean of PMF, Nusret Drešković, said that a shameful attempt to usurp the property of PMF UNSA is underway.
"It is planned that the land between these two buildings be turned into a road. The authors of this spatial plan were so engaged in assessing the existing situation that they do not know that the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics institution exists here, calling it the Institute for Physics and Chemistry.
I take this opportunity to, on behalf of all students and employees, ask all representatives of the City Administration and political parties not to accept the usurpation of the University's property. We are also sending this message to councilors in Novi Sarajevo. We all stand together on the defense line of UNSA and all citizens of KS, which is why this fight is to ensure that UNSA becomes the backbone of BiH's development", said Drešković.
Drešković stated that they had submitted objections and said that the construction of the road is unacceptable to them.
"The KS Planning Institute has intentionally and illegally favored private construction institutions, causing long-term damage. We emphasized that the KS Planning Institute does not prioritize the interests of all citizens. Based on the analysis of documentation received from the Legal Affairs Office, we determined that the Ministry of Transport gave a positive opinion on the establishment of the road in private interest. The current minister signed it in 2019. The Ministry of Transport favored private interest, to the detriment of public interest, especially educational institutions. We asked the Ministry to withdraw that positive opinion in order to stop the damage", said Drešković.
