Meeting of the Management Board of the Fund for Aid to Flood Victims Held

The first meeting of the Management Board of the Federal Fund for Aid to Areas Affected by Natural Disasters in the Federation of BiH began at noon in the building of the FBiH Government, reports Patria News Agency.

The session was chaired by the Prime Minister of the FBiH, Nermin Nikšić. Members Adil Osmanović, Erdal Trhulj, Safudin Čengić, Petar Ćorluka, Mehmed Mustabašić, and Sinan Husić attended the session, while other members, ministers of transport and communications Enver Bijedić, spatial planning Desnica Radivojević, agriculture, water management and forestry Jerko Ivanković Lijanović, and Zehra Obralija representing entrepreneurs, were justifiably absent.

In accordance with its competencies, the Fund's Management Board today adopted the Draft Statute of the Fund, which, in compliance with the law, regulates issues related to the name and headquarters, activities, organization, structure, bodies and management, assets, financial operations, work and business planning, allocation and use of funds, distribution of funds and their bookkeeping, transparency of work, and other matters of significance for the organization and operation of the Fund for Support to Areas Affected by Natural Disasters in the Federation of BiH.

It is foreseen that the draft statute will be considered and adopted by the FBiH Government at tomorrow's session, which would create conditions for the appointment of an acting director of the Fund, who would take over the role of the director of the founding Fund with the obligation to prepare for the Fund's commencement of operations and submit an application for registration in the court register. His obligation also includes proposing the Rulebook on Work, while the Ministry of Justice, in accordance with the law on the establishment of the federal fund, will draft the Rules of Procedure for the Fund's Management Board.

It was stated today that the adoption of the Rulebook on Work will take into account the maximum rationalization of administration in the activities of the newly established Fund. Readiness was expressed for efficient and swift action so that the funds currently available to the Federation of BiH can be used as soon as possible to help the endangered population.

The Fund's activity is to collect and distribute financial resources for aid to areas affected by disasters in the Federation, to encourage and finance the preparation, implementation, and development of programs, projects, and similar activities in mitigating the consequences of natural disasters, and it will also perform other tasks related to financing needs intended for the elimination and mitigation of the consequences of natural disasters and providing assistance to natural and legal persons.

The establishment of this Fund enables the distribution of collected money to the donor account that the FBiH Government opened on May 17. More than 4.4 million KM has been collected so far.
