Meeting of the Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking Held

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A meeting of the Task Force for Combating Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration was held at the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, chaired by the acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, Gordana Tadić.

The activities of institutions and actions in situations involving the influx of illegal migrants, the processing of cases for criminal offenses of human trafficking and illegal migration, as well as inter-institutional and international cooperation in this area, were the central topics of the meeting.

The meeting was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies and judicial institutions from the level of BiH, entities, and Brčko District, as well as representatives of international organizations whose scope of work includes activities related to combating human trafficking and illegal migration.

Representatives of law enforcement institutions discussed activities aimed at protecting the safety of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the influx of illegal migrants, as well as the safety of migrants and their stay in BiH in accordance with the law and international conventions.

Also discussed were the necessary activities for the protection of victims of human trafficking, especially minors who are multiply endangered during illegal exploitation for begging and other forms of exploitation.

Law enforcement agencies in BiH are working on a number of cases related to migrant smuggling and human trafficking, and intensive regional and international cooperation is being achieved in these cases.

In the previous period, operations code-named "Taurus" and "Ox" were carried out as major international operations in the fight against smuggling of illegal migrants, which were implemented in several countries, in which the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and the Border Police of BiH had an intensive and significant role.
