Inzko and Nikšić held a meeting

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The President of SDP BiH Nermin Nikšić stated during today's meeting with the High Representative in BiH Valentin Inzko that the party wishes to contribute and be part of the solution regarding the amendments to the election legislation in the country. Nikšić accused the current authorities of not trying to find any solutions, but rather producing artificial crises "to build their campaign for the upcoming elections on". Nikšić believes that the authorities have nothing else to offer the citizens.

The President of SDP BiH also spoke to the High Representative about examples of abuse of certain institutions by the authorities. He emphasized that this is a practice that must be stopped in order to finally establish the rule of law in BiH, which was also listed as one of the key priorities in the EU's new Enlargement Strategy.

Regarding the amendment of the election legislation, Nikšić believes it is evident that SDA and HDZ do not want to reach any solution, but are using the engagement of the EU and the US to waste time, during which, if they truly wanted to, it would be possible to adopt a solution.

SDP believes that the only possible solution is to resolve this issue within the institutions of the BiH system and welcomes the activities of the EU and the US who want to help.

SDP also stated that they do not want to be a facade that will serve, as they stated, "as an alibi for SDA and HDZ for yet another deception of citizens", but SDP stressed that they are ready to be part of the solution to this issue, as well as all other issues that are important for this country and its citizens, provided that it is a serious approach, in which, with the help of representatives of the international community, a quality law will be reached, especially in the part related to the prevention of electoral fraud.

Nikšić emphasized that any blockade of institutions to prevent parliamentarians from voting on the proposed law on electoral units and the number of mandates of the FBiH Parliament, jointly proposed by SDP and DF, is unacceptable.
