Education and Employment Fair held in Mostar, Wigemark says there are jobs

The Education and Employment Fair "Learn, Explore, Connect" hosted around 160 exhibitors and several thousand visitors, organized today in Mostar, in cooperation with the Office of the EU Special Representative and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in BiH, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

Building on the successes of previous fairs held in Zenica and Banja Luka, the Mostar Fair enabled visitors – young people, students, and the unemployed – to discover and develop their talents through numerous fair workshops, explore nearly 1,500 job and education opportunities, and establish business networks.

In his opening address, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, emphasized the importance of implementing the Reform Agenda for the business environment in BiH.

- The difference may not be visible yet, but the purpose of these reforms is to create new jobs and opportunities for people like you, for the youth in this country. As can be seen at the moment, there is a lot of energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Mostar, and I am glad to see that people want to work and improve their future. Since the Fair will provide hundreds of potential jobs, we are also proud of our partnership with the Embassy of Norway in this exciting and very meaningful endeavor - said Ambassador Wigemark.

Anne Havnør, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway, said:

- Brain drain is a serious threat to BiH's ambition to become a modern and developed European country. To prevent this, conditions for young talents must be drastically improved here, to motivate educated and skilled people to stay. We want people, especially young people, women, and minorities, to be active participants in society and the economy. Your success will also contribute to the well-being of your fellow citizens.

The fair hosted companies, businesses, institutions, and non-governmental organizations involved in developing the business climate, labor and education systems in BiH and employing new talents, coming from Grude, Mostar, Široki Brijeg, Čapljina, Sarajevo, Trebinje, Goražde, Tuzla, Zenica, Banja Luka, Jablanica, Bijeljina, Istočno Sarajevo, and Stolac.
