PDP Congress Held in Banja Luka, Borenović Elected President of PDP

BANJA LUKA, (Patria) - Branislav Borenović was re-elected President of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) and was the only candidate. He was re-elected with 342 votes, while six members voted against his second term.

At the Congress of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) in Banja Luka, members of the Main Board and Supervisory Board, as well as members of the Statute Commission, were elected, and two declarations were adopted - the Declaration on Local Self-Government and the Declaration for the period 2019-2039. The party's vice-presidents were not appointed at the Congress; their names will be known after the session of the newly appointed Main Board of PDP, RTV BN reports.

Borenović thanked the delegates for re-election and emphasized that it is an honor, a privilege, and an obligation to be the president of PDP.

"Thank you for the opportunity you have given me to do what we have planned in the next four years. What PDP is doing today is truly new," Borenović stated.

He promised that PDP will do everything it can in the next four years to become an even stronger party and a driver of economic, social, and political reforms.

"We want to strengthen Republika Srpska, whose place is in Europe. BiH belongs to Serbs, as much as it belongs to Bosniaks and Croats, and we want to have a say in it," Borenović added.

The PDP Congress was attended by a large number of high-ranking officials, members, and sympathizers of this party, as well as numerous guests, including the head of the SNS parliamentary group, Aleksandar Martinović, and the leader of the Democrats of Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić.

The party's Congress adopted a political declaration for the period 2019-2039. Officials of this party, led by President Branislav Borenović, described it as a "strong response to the political processes in BiH," alluding to the SDA Declaration, which they criticized. The PDP Declaration affirms greater independence for the Republika Srpska entity while strengthening its institutions. They claim that the FBiH should also operate in this way, referring to BiH as a "derived community."
