As part of the 504th Ajvatovica Days 2014, the 16th Bugojno Open international karate tournament was held yesterday, organized by the Bugojno Karate Club. 42 karate clubs with 340 participants took part in the tournament. Bugojno Open Ajvatovica 2014 is the tournament with the longest post-war continuity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports Patria.
The tournament was attended by Samir Čatović, president of the Karate Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Hasan Ajkunić, the mayor of Bugojno, who also opened the tournament. The organization of the tournament was supported by the Travnik Mufti's Office, BH Telecom, Gračanica Coal Mine Gornji Vakuf, and other partners.
The Bihać Karate Club was awarded a certificate of appreciation for participating with the largest number of competitors in the previous 15 years of the tournament, and the Bošnjak Karate Club from Konjic for competing in all previous tournaments.
The overall winner of the tournament was "KK Bugojno" Bugojno with 4 gold, 9 silver, and 14 bronze medals. Second place went to KK Internacional Zenica with 10 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals, while third place was secured by KK Perfekt Sarajevo with 5 gold, 2 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
The most successful club in kata was KK ''Internacional'' – Zenica, while the most successful club in kumite was KK ''Holiday'' – Goražde.
According to the achieved results, the most successful individuals and clubs were announced, reports NAP.
