Spirit of Assisi Held, Declaration of Peace Signed

The interreligious meeting Spirit of Assisi originates from the meeting of world religions that was first held in 1986 in Assisi under the title World Day of Prayer in Assisi, and was organized by Pope John Paul II, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Around 120 religious leaders gathered at that meeting. At the Second Prayer Meeting of Religions in Assisi in January 2002, the Assisi Declaration was adopted and signed by representatives of 12 world religions and 31 Christian communities.

This year's event "Spirit of Assisi in Zenica" was attended by: the Choir of Theology Students of the Franciscan Theology from Sarajevo, the choir of the Majlis of the Islamic Community Doboj "Selimija", the choir of the Orthodox Theology from Foča, the Spiritual Ensemble "Novo Nebo" from Zenica. More than a hundred people from Zenica enjoyed beautiful melodies for an hour.

After the songs, the Declaration of Peace - "Zenica Declaration of Peace" was released to the public in the Church of St. Elijah, signed by Zenica religious leaders on behalf of their communities and Churches. On behalf of the Parish of the Serbian Orthodox Church Zenica, it was signed by Bojan Glišić, parish priest of Zenica. On behalf of the Majlis of the Islamic Community Zenica, the signatory was Mr. Jakup ef. Salkica, chief imam. On behalf of the Jewish Community Zenica, Jakob Montiljo, president. On behalf of the Catholic Church Zenica, the charter was signed by Dr. don Anto Ledić, director of the Catholic School Center "St. Paul" Zenica.
