“Day of Remembrance” for families of Bosniaks taken and killed in Rudo in 1992 held

(Patria) - The Majlis of the Islamic Community of Rudo today organized the 11th gathering of families of Bosniaks taken and killed in the municipality of Rudo in 1992, titled “Day of Remembrance”.

The program was attended by Gorazde Mufti Remzija-ef. Pitić, chief imams, imams, government representatives, families of the taken and killed, and many others.

Gorazde Mufti Remzija-ef. Pitić told the attendees that "a person is a person by remembering". He also pointed out doing good as an important characteristic of God's servants.

“We believe that God is the One who knows everything and nothing is hidden from Him. Everyone will be held accountable for what they have done. What happened in the nineties is not just a sin of those who were evil; good people who do not want to oppose evil, who care about their own comfort so that nothing bothers them, also participate in that sin.

A person can benefit others, but a servant of God does good to others. The difference between good and beneficial is that one who does good expects nothing in return; they do it because it is good to do good in the order of things.

One who wants to be beneficial expects something in return. That is an important message,” the mufti said, among other things.

Said-ef. Junuz, chief imam of the Majlis of Rudo, speaking about the importance of the culture of remembrance, emphasized that, year after year, we must be among those who, in this way too, contribute to it not being forgotten.

“Today we gathered on a sad occasion, but I am very pleased to see how many people responded. The mosque was full, which is very important. We must not forget what happened, so that it does not happen again,” he said.

On this occasion, the Gorazde Mufti also presented Imam Junuz with a decree for the position of chief imam.
Faruk-ef. Agić, from the sister Majlis of the Islamic Community of Kakanj, emphasized the obligation of all of us to be on the path of truth and justice.

“We remember our martyrs, we remember what happened to our people in our recent past. The Lord sends us the truth, but also warns us that most creatures do not want to hear the truth, do not want to follow the truth, do not rejoice in the truth.

We live today in a time, and in the time behind us, and probably in the times ahead of us, in which people flee from the truth. We witness this through our past, we witness this today. We are precisely a small group that accepts the truth, that follows the truth, that speaks about the truth.

Our gathering today is for that purpose, to be among those who will speak the truth, who will remember and confirm what happened in our region,” he said.

Amil Dorić is one of those whose family members – his brother and his son – were taken to a camp and then killed in Foča.

“The commemoration should continue. It seems to me that there are fewer of us each year, but we must continue, we must say that neighbors committed crimes against Muslim neighbors,” he stated.

As part of the program, Yasin and zikr were recited, a sermon was given, and roses were laid in the Lim River.
