One-month detention ordered for Smajlović and Iličić

The Court of BiH ordered one-month detention for those arrested in the "Druker" operation, Mujo Smajlović, an investigator of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, and Robert Iličić from Grude, confirmed Vlado Adamović, Smajlović's lawyer for the BiH news agency Patria.

We remind you that these two were arrested on Friday, January 23, for organized crime and corrupt criminal offenses. The prosecutor in this case claims that Smajlović was leaking secrets to Iličić, which was characterized as a criminal offense.

- The Court, after reviewing the submitted evidence, determined that there is a well-founded suspicion that the suspects have committed the criminal offense they are charged with, and ordered detention due to the well-founded fear that the suspects, if released, will destroy, hide, alter, or falsify evidence or traces important for the criminal proceedings, or obstruct the criminal proceedings by influencing witnesses, accomplices, or concealers - it was announced from the Court of BiH.

Robert Iličić is suspected of the criminal offense of unauthorized trafficking of weapons and military equipment, and dual-use products under Article 193, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH), the criminal offense of giving gifts and other benefits under Article 218, Paragraph 1 of the CC BiH, all in conjunction with Article 53 of the CC BiH; and Mujo Smajlović for the criminal offense of abuse of official position under Article 220, Paragraph 1 of the CC BiH, and the criminal offense of disclosure of secret data under Article 164, Paragraph 3, point a) of the CC BiH, all in conjunction with Article 53 of the CC BiH.

The aforementioned activities were carried out under the orders of the Court of BiH and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH. The "Druker" operation was preceded by a complex criminal investigation lasting several months, during which the illegal activities of the suspects were documented.

A criminal and disciplinary procedure will be initiated against the employee of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, confirmed Boris Grubešić, spokesperson for the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

As lawyer Adamović stated, the prosecutor will continue the investigation for a period of one month, after which the decision on detention will be reviewed, i.e., whether it will be extended or lifted.
