One-Month Detention Ordered for Fahrudin Radončić

Deciding on the proposal of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to order detention, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a decision on January 27, 2016, adopting the proposal and ordering one-month detention for the suspect Fahrudin Radončić. According to this decision, the detention may last until February 25, 2016, or until a new court decision, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Upon reviewing the submitted evidence, the Court established that there is a grounded suspicion that the suspect committed the criminal offense he is charged with, and ordered detention due to the existence of a well-founded fear that the suspect, if released, would destroy, conceal, alter, or forge evidence or traces important for the criminal proceedings, as well as special circumstances indicating that he would obstruct the criminal proceedings by influencing witnesses or accomplices, and the existence of special circumstances justifying the fear that he would repeat the same or a similar criminal offense, or continue with the described actions if released.

Fahrudin Radončić is suspected of committing the criminal offense of association for the purpose of committing criminal acts under Article 249, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the criminal offense of obstructing the judiciary under Article 241, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with Article 26 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the criminal offense of giving a reward or other form of benefit for influence peddling under Article 219a, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
