VM APPROVED Joint Sale of Former SFRY Properties in New York and Bern

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of BiH, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adopted a Decision approving the joint sale of the property of the permanent mission of former SFRY to the UN in New York, for which there is no interest from any successor state of former SFR Yugoslavia.

At the same time, the Council of Ministers of BiH was informed about the relevant information regarding the sale of this property and the Draft Sale and Purchase Agreement "Residential Contract of Sale", which is necessary for the completion of the joint sale procedure by the successor states. The Joint Committee for the Distribution of Diplomatic and Consular Property of Former SFRY accepted the sale price in the amount of 50 million US dollars, which is the highest offer, considering that the last offered price was 42.5 million US dollars, and the property was previously valued at 30 million US dollars.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's share is 15% of the total amount, or 7.5 million US dollars (12,530,000.00 KM). Likewise, any costs incurred during the property transfer in the joint sale procedure of the Permanent Mission of former SFRY to the UN in New York will be distributed in the same manner.

The Council of Ministers of BiH, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adopted a Decision approving the joint sale of the former SFRY embassy/residence property in Bern, after being informed of the accompanying information and the draft sale and purchase agreement.

Earlier, the Joint Committee for the Distribution of Diplomatic and Consular Property of Former SFRY accepted the sale price of the Republic of Serbia in the total amount of 7.78 million Swiss francs. Since the Republic of Serbia is one of the five co-owners of this property, 4,706,900.00 Swiss francs represents the purchase of co-ownership shares from the other four countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Croatia, North Macedonia, and the Republic of Slovenia). Bosnia and Herzegovina is entitled to 15% of the funds, which is 1,167,000.00 Swiss francs or approximately 2.1 million KM.

By adopting these two decisions, the continuation of the implementation of Annex B of the Agreement on Succession Issues and the resolution of the distribution of diplomatic and consular property of former SFRY are enabled. The funds obtained from the sale of these properties will be used by BiH to purchase new and reconstruct existing facilities for the needs of accommodating Bosnia and Herzegovina's diplomatic and consular network.
