Credit borrowing approved for the procurement of three more special armored vehicles for the Sarajevo Canton MUP

(Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton today adopted the Project for enhanced capacity of equipping the Police Administration of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs with special purpose vehicles, which enables the procurement of three more special armored vehicles for the police in Sarajevo Canton.

Funds for the procurement of these three vehicles, in the amount of 4,050,000 KM, will be secured through credit borrowing, and the Government today tasked the Ministry of Finance of Sarajevo Canton and the Police Administration of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs to initiate the prescribed procedures for credit borrowing for the mentioned project.

The Project for enhanced capacity of equipping the Police Administration of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs refers to the continuation of the procurement of special armored vehicles, considering that three such vehicles were procured and presented to the public in September 2024.

After that, procurement procedures were initiated, and contracts were concluded in November 2024 and May 2025 for the procurement of four more vehicles, with the delivery of the first two expected soon.

Thanks to today's decision by the Government of Sarajevo Canton, it is expected that the Police Administration of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs will soon initiate the procurement procedure for three more vehicles, bringing the total number available to ten.

Special armored vehicles can transport up to ten specially equipped police officers, making them essential in situations requiring rapid and safe transport, and serving as a means for establishing barricades in crisis situations.

These vehicles are also key in special operations that require top technical performance and resistance to various weather conditions.

The vehicles also serve to protect the personal safety of citizens, facilities, and other assets in cases of general danger or widespread threats to public order and peace, as well as in cases of terrorist or other violent actions.

- These vehicles can also be used by the police to prevent criminal offenses, and to find and apprehend perpetrators of criminal offenses, provide assistance to other organizational units in securing public gatherings, and in implementing measures and actions for general prevention, and if necessary, to provide assistance to other security agencies - stated the Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Admir Katica.

He added that the procurement of these vehicles is a continuation of strengthening the police in Sarajevo Canton with necessary material-technical means and equipment for work.
