Additional 4 million BAM approved for the implementation of the 2024 Local Elections

(Patria) - The Ministry of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina today, based on the request of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, approved additional financial resources in the amount of 4,173,000 BAM for the implementation of the Local Elections in BiH scheduled for 06.10.2024, which are already available to the Central Election Commission of BiH.

The requested additional funds are mainly planned for the costs of engaging additional staff and their training, as well as for logistical costs related to election technologies.

We remind you that for the activities carried out by the Central Election Commission of BiH, 7,410,000 BAM has already been approved, which was the amount initially requested by the Central Election Commission of BiH. After the entry into force of the Law on Amendments to the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Official Gazette of BiH" no. 24/24 of 5.4.2024), the Central Election Commission of BiH requested an additional 4,173,000 BAM through a special request, which was approved today.

In addition to the aforementioned financial resources, it should be added that municipalities/cities will also have around 7,500,000 BAM in costs, of which the largest amount goes to the compensation of polling station committee members. Therefore, based on estimates, the 2024 Local Elections will cost around 19,000,000 BAM.
